I use to have a BSA Victor in which the oil pressure build up, would allow oil fumes to go through the camshaft seal and codense/deposit oil on the "breaker points."

In order to get spark I had to periodically take the inspection cover off and wipe the points dry, by slipping a piece of paper between them.

I later solved this oil leak problem by threading a brass fitting into the valve inspection cap and also a one-way check valve, so that the engine pressure could escape, but the engine could not suck dust back in.

This BSA had a regular crankcase breather (monitored by a rotating disk valve) but apparently did not do its intended job!

The Savage already has an engine breather, with pcv valve into the air cleaner. Is this not sufficient?? Is yours clogged? Please explain more, because this is very interesting to me!
